Patatje Oorlog

Home made, Patatje Oorlog

I've been haunted by this street food since first time i read about this in one of my favorite novel, Titanium, by Sitta Karina. So after day by day my eagerness to eat this Netherland Street Food getting bigger, i decided to made this dish today. During my so 'wounderful' day.

I googled about this dish, and i found out Patat means French Fries and Patatje Oorlog means French War. I don't know whats that mean.
The ingredients of Patat is quite easy, and you know what? It requires Peanut Sauce for Indonesian Satay.
I eat this with Onion Rings, the onions ought to mixed in the mayo or something but i prefer to make it as Onion Rings to make it more tasty. For the peanut sauce, yes i made it all by my self, i crush it on mortar by my self and i'm proudly announce that my peanut sauce is ah-maze-ing.

You guys should try this at home, it's seriously a yummy snack during you doing your Thesis or watching movie or playing game or something. Here's the recipe, which i type based on how i made this noon.

Ingredients:
  • 3 Potatoes
  • 3 Onions
  • Mayonnaise
  • 1 Pack of seasoning flour
  • Oil
  • Large Bowl
  • Water
  • Ice cube
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 cups Peanuts
  • Salt
  • Sugar
Utilities:
  • Pot
  • Strainer
  • Spatula
  • Frying Pan
How To Make:
  1. First of all, peeled all the Potatoes skin and Onion. Slice Potatoes into shape that you want. Today i slice my Potatoes into half then cutted it again into apple-slice-look pieces. Make sure you prepare the Onion too, so when you do the second step all the main ingredients are ready.
  2. Took of the large bowl, fill in with the water and ice cube. Drown the potatoes into the ice water, we're going to freeze it in room temprature. Leave it until the time you should fry them.
  3. Heat up the frying pan, pour the oil. Wait until it heated up, put all the Peanuts and fry it well until it turn into brown or until it cooked. After that strain it before you move it into mortar and crush it.
  4. When the peanut has dried, put on the mortar, sprinkle the salt and the sugar to taste dont sprinkle it too much. Crush it.. Crush it.. Crush it manually until it tender, pour water bit by bit while you still crush it until it looks a bit thick or you think thats enough. Put aside the Peanut Sauce.
  5. Beat an egg in a bowl, prepare the seasoning flour on a plate. Dip the sliced onion then cover it with seasoning flour. Repeat until the onion finish.
  6. Heat up the pot with oil. When you pouring the oil make sure it will cover all the potatoes. Yes it's quite much of oil we use :p Wait until the oil is ready, about 5-8 minutes. Meanwhile you strain the potatoes. Enter the potatoes carefully because the oil will brutally splashed. Deep fry it for 7 minutes until its tender and turn into light brown. Strain it.
  7. Dont turn off the heat, stay at medium heat, fry the onion rings. Be careful when you fry this thing, its easily burnt. Flip it while you fry it so the colour will perfectly brown. Strain it.
  8. You have all ready, it ready to serve. You can put the Potatoes on the right side and the Onion rings on the other side then the sauce on top. Or you could pur the sauce and mixed it all together. Thats no big deal, the dish will remain delicious as it should be :)
The dish is ready to serve and eat!! Ah ya, in case you're alergic to Mayo or Peanut, you can replace it with melted chesse, and i'm sure the yum will beat the mayo and peanut.
Happy cooking.

Cook.

If Po says that he eat when he's upset. Then I.. I'm not eat, but I cooked when I'm bored.

I don't know, why'd I love to scramble the egg, cut the chilli, chopped the onions, add the butter to frying pan, sprinkled the pepper above the egg. A lot a lots of pepper, cause just so you know I deep in love with pepper and chesse!!
Any kind of food, if it's with pepper and chesse. They'll gonna be a yummy meal :9
and after I stir it, voila! there goes the scramble egg. Then I'll prepare the roasted bread. BON APPETIT!!
